Raising Awareness about Degrowth
Context & Objectives
The EKO project was created during the Reboot! 2023 Hackathon, an event dedicated to the creation of responsible and innovative communication solutions. The central theme of the Hackathon was "Slow Down or Perish," a call to collective awareness on the need to rethink our way of consuming, producing, and living.
Strategy & Insight
In response to this challenge, we chose to focus on raising awareness about degrowth and responsible consumption among younger generations. The idea was to find a way to approach these essential topics in an accessible manner, while staying true to the spirit of the Hackathon's theme. Indeed, degrowth and responsible consumption are crucial concepts for the future, but their communication is often complex, especially for a young audience.

Creative Solution
One of the main challenges in raising awareness about these issues lies in the fact that younger generations often have a limited understanding of the impacts of their daily consumption. It seemed essential to us to address these issues in a creative and playful way, avoiding a moralizing tone, in order to create a tool that is both educational and engaging.
Therefore, we opted for a children's book, a traditional yet timeless format, to allow children to explore these concepts in a family setting, with their parents, who are the primary readers of such books.
